Galaxy Express 999 THE GALAXY EXPERIENCE —The Journey Goes On
Journey through space with Tetsuro and Maetel as a passenger on the Galaxy Express. This new audiovisual experience transforms the film into a fully immersive adventure that places you inside the story.
■ Take a journey through the galaxy on No. 999 in this immersive, cutting-edge 3D space experience
At “Galaxy Express 999 THE GALAXY EXPERIENCE —The Journey Goes On,” experience the 1979 classic anime film Galaxy Express 999: The Movie in a fully immersive environment, rather than as a passive viewer.
In this half-hour experience, you don’t just watch the story unfold, you become part of it, journeying into the stars as a passenger aboard the Galaxy Express.
Highlights
● Total sensory immersion transforms you into a galactic traveler, enjoyable for both longtime fans and first-time viewers
The story begins at the entrance, where a train modeled on the Galaxy Express awaits you in the foyer. Once you take your seat inside, the galaxy expands outside your window as No. 999 departs on its journey.
As a video introducing the main character, Tetsuro Hoshino, and the beginning of his journey plays, you arrive at Megalopolis Station, his departure point. The roughly 1,000 m² video space is created using 32 of the latest 4K laser projectors, specially installed for this experience.
In this vast space, enveloped by sound and light, you will become part of the Galaxy Express 999 world, traveling through the galaxy with Tetsuro.
While respecting the original 1979 Galaxy Express 999: The Movie, this exhibit expands beyond the limits of the screen to imagine the unseen parts of its universe, allowing visitors to experience being inside its world. Take a journey through the universe with this digital attraction, an experience designed for all ages, whether you’re a first-time viewer or a devoted fan.

● Music composed specially by Kenji Kawai. Your journey concludes with Godiego's timeless masterpiece
For this story, composer Kenji Kawai has created original music for each scene, breathing life into the expanded world of the movie. The venue uses 3D surround sound to create an immersive soundscape that incorporates not only the film’s music, but its dialogue and sound effects.
The final piece you will hear, filling the space around you, is Godeigo’s famous “The Galaxy Express 999.” Combined with imagery of a new departure, the music brings this magnificent epic to a powerful close.

● Explore the ideas of Leiji Matsumoto, still relevant to today’s world, through words and documents
As the afterglow of your journey through video space lingers, you will walk along rail tracks for approximately 25 meters. As you walk, lines from the film will appear and fade behind you, lingering as lasting impressions of your journey.
Afterward, you can explore a display of behind-the-scenes materials and character references from the film. Gain deeper insight into the world of Galaxy Express 999 and the creative vision of Leiji Matsumoto.
His fascination with mechanized humans and the theme of “finite life versus eternal life” take on renewed relevance in today’s world, where technologies such as AI prompt us to reconsider what it means to have a body and to exist. Through Matsumoto’s words and ideas, you will rediscover the fundamental wonder of being human and the meaning behind the journey itself.
